Hawkfest News
Hello Folks
Here is some information for those of
you who are coming to Hawkfest this year.
The festival is set
on a wonderful Greenfield site, with lots of trees and views over
the beautiful Devonshire countryside, near Honiton in East Devon,
which has full rail and bus links to the rest of the country. The
nearest airport is
Exeter whose
main airline
Flybe,
has flights from all over UK and Europe. A detailed map
with directions and a list of the nearest hotels and bed and
breakfast establishments, for those of you who don't fancy camping,
will be sent out with tickets.
Camping will be
available on the site and we have brought in
luxury toilet facilities
and a disabled
toilet provision.
There will be a couple of bars,
including a lounge bar, with a selection of beers, cider, real ales,
wines, spirits, soft drinks etc, a sit down café and a variety of
food outlets….We even have a village store for all of your
essentials.
There will be workshops, stalls, walk
around entertainment and of course the usual children's area with a
variety of activities.
The line up is looking good too with
some amazing bands across a whole variety of genres.
Tim Blake will be performing on Friday
evening and also joining Hawkwind for their set on Saturday night.
Sunday it is T.O.S.H (Technicians of Spaceship Hawkwind), so as some
of you will already know, anything can happen there
J
We have a few traditional Hawkfest
favourites……Tarantism, Tribe of Cro, Bruise, Spacehead and
Relentless, and by popular demand we have brought back from last
year
Omnia Opera, Danse of the Dead and the Tits of Death.
These will be joined by, The
Starfighters (Bob Calvert's old backing band), Wind of Change, and
many other bands which we will be announcing over the next couple of
weeks.
There will be DJ sets throughout the
weekend, including one by drum maestro Richard Chadwick himself!
Due to the huge success of "Question
Time" last year, we have decided to bring it back, with a panel of
band, crew and guests, hosted as usual by our favourite TV
presenter, Mr Matthew Wright
J……….So
get those questions and discussion points in to
questiontime@hawkwind.com
if you want your voice to be heard.
As usual, well behaved dogs and
children are welcome and children 12 years and under get in free.
For regular updates
on this year's festival, keep an eye on the
Hawkfest micro site,
which is also accessible from the main
Hawkwind website
