Hawkfest band biogs Vasquez: Bainy: Vocals Rich: Guitar/Vocals Rich: Bass Andy: Drums/Vocals Biography This four piece occupy the shifting sands somewhere between rock and indie. Influenced by 40 years of rock music from such as The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Talking Heads, Hawkwind, Black Sabbath and The Velvet Underground, Vasquez hold down their tight melodic vocal harmonies with a powerful driving rhythm section and a rich mix of soaring guitars. They have received extensive play on radio stations across the north of England, including the BBC local stations in Sheffield, Hull, Leeds and York and recently completed a prestigious Live Session on BBC Raw Talent. Originally from diverse backgrounds in Sheffield, Manchester, Nottingham and South Wales, the band plays regularly across the north and midlands. They have completed well over 50 gigs together and are currently working on tracks for a further EP release in 2007. Websites:

Guitar Fever are Steve Higgins and AJ
Murray. They have been
together as a duo for 10
years. Their music could
be described as blues and experimental rock, incorporating
guitars, national slide guitar and mandolin.
They have
one cd of original
songs, "Blow the Night Away"
and a second one is in the pipeline. They also do a regular club
evening at the Cross Kings in Kings Cross on the last Monday
each month, called - spookily enough - the last Monday club.

Steve and AJ are looking forward to playing at the Hawkfest.
The Dooberies are an alternative folk
trio (all Sabbath fans), a kick-as rock & blues drummer and
a multi-talented bass player. Combining a variety of
styles results in an intoxicating compromise...

Ok, so that's 2 lines...but it
pretty much says it! Hope it will suffice.
Rhythm of Blues are a bunch of fine
musicians from UK, each with a great history and endless
energy and enthusiasm to create fine music. Each year, the
band tours with world top musicians, The Carl Verheyen Band,
(Supertramp, David Gilmour, Frank Zappa, Ray Charles, Neil
Young, Dave Crosby, Stanley Clarke, Stuart Copeland, Max
Roach, Brian Setzer’s Orchestra & many, more)!! This enables
all involved to revisit their friendships and indulge in a
period of time where some stunning music is created. Classic
Rock Magazine readers voted the Carl Verheyen Band/Rhythm of
Blues show at The Classic Rock Society show in Rotherham,
UK, best show of 2003, praise indeed.
To find out exactly how Utah Saints
ended up at Hawkfest we have to go right back to 1988, when Jez from Utah
Saints previous band started doing a cover of Orgone Accumulator -since then
fate has intervened, and the two bands have crossed paths several times
-Utah Saints remixing Silver Machine, and opening for Hawkwind at Brixton
Academy, as well as both bands playing the now legendary Treworgey Tree
festival. Utah Saints are very honoured to have been asked to play, as
Hawkfest has such a good reputation for friendliness and musical open
mindedness!
Utah Saints will be playing one of their
acclaimed mashup DJ and effects sets, just the two of them, some records, a
laptop and some effects to create a swirly mix of electro and
breakbeat, mashups and re-edits that they have made themselves -pounding
beats and electronic punk -funk!, all accompanied by the famous Hawkwind
light show!
Relentless' are something of an enigma.
Nobody is saying exactly how long they've played together, but they are very
tight. They're currently finishing an album and, through their international
management company, they have major label interest. Founder drummer, Jack G, has
a cross-generational connection to psychedelic warlords Hawkwind. Co-founder,
Drebbs, says little and has a strange involvement with snakes. Bassist Dave is
expert on the trumpet. Virtuoso lead guitarist, Durdon, is in constant demand as
a session player.
Giant Root Attack formed in 2004 out of
a band that had previously taken
on several incarnations. Left with
founding members Dave Rim on vocals and
percussion, Buz, guitar and vocals, and
Davi on bass, the line-up was
completed with the recruitment of Keith
the count on drums.
As is the case, Stylistic comparisons
have inevitably been made. Without
any particular direct influences the
sound can be very broadly described
as a fusion of the last 50 years of
music especially the stuff like
Captain Beefheart, Hawkwind, Gong,
Magma, Cardiacs with a blend of
originality and maddness.
Catchy melodies and hooks in abundance,
the feedback from gig-goers has
been very positive indeed. Some people
have claimed to have been haunted
by the music for days after their
listening experience.
With the core belief of giving the
crowd a good performance, Giant Root
Attack play at an energetic and
exciting pace with a great contrast of
peaks and troughs and the aim to fulfil
audience expectations of a
worthwhile gig

"Witty nonsense lyrics and jack-knife
chuckling rhythms that lead to
psyche-out break downs complete with
whirring wind noises before jumping
back into a singalong with great vocals
'It's a harpoon for you if you
heard from the camel again', or
something along those lines. They are the
kind of band you can listen to and
enjoy without trying or thinking and
yet the kind of band that will offer
more on further investigation, much
like the Beta Band of old. They're a
bit special and your new favourite
band." - Lupine
Thank you for playing a wonderful set.
The bass is fast, the drums are
tight, the harmonies crisp. You are
like a plane with a sharks mouth
painted on the front but in band form.

A genuine cult band, The Tribe of
Cro are one of the unsung heroes of the British underground festival scene.
For over 10 years they have been waving their freak flag high to the sound
of free festival psychedelics, driving krautrock rhythms, spacey liquid
electronica laced in heavy stoner guitars. The Propaganda And Information Network (as P.A.I.N is officially named) was first put together 11 years ago from the ashes of two seminal free festival bands:AOS3 and Radical Dance Faction. Brought together to carry on the same Anarcho-style rantings, but with a much harder, Punk Rock attitude to it (less toking and more drinking!) within the first 7 days of forming P.A.I.N managed to book up a 3week tour, literally writing the set in soundchecks. The band went from strength to strength releasing their first live demo (Prison's no Place for Punishment- a real collector's item these days,) within their first month of existence. Well that was 11 years ago. Since then P.A.I.N. have released 2 studio albums, 2 cd singles and a couple of live albums, and are currently working on a new studio album and a P.A.I.N. in Dub album. There are a few gigs springing up around the country and a Croatia/Slovenia tour coming up in a couple of weeks so things are going great guns at the moment. re! "Sharpen your cutlasses boys, thers a mighty stormy sea ahead!!" Omnia Opera have reemerged from
there cocoon having Banged around on the UK underground acid/space rock
scene over the late 80’s and early 90’s. Playing many gigs and a few
festivals. Omnia released self produced tapes and finally ended up releasing
two albums with Delirium records which were well received on the scene as
must have items. Then they disappeared off the face of the earth never to be
seen again.
