Yet more gems from the archives. Like some of the other recent pictures I've posted I'll be the first to admit that the quality is far from A1 however due to the rarity value I still see that they are worthy inclusions to the collection. I must also point out at this point that my selection of these pictures was helped somewhat by the input of fellow web master, Steve Starfarer, on his brief visit to the UK I managed to catch up with him and his family as we spent a most enjoyable day at the V2004 festival ( well enjoyable if you discount the queues to get in and then having to hike around most of the perimeter fence so that the said Mr Starfarer could collect his tickets! ), anyway on returning to Museum HQ I "forced" him to take a look through the vast scrapbook of cuttings that was so kindly donated by Gavin Wilson to the site and as he turned every page I'm sure I could detect his face going a further shade of green, presumably with envy ;-) Seriously though it was a fine day with musical highlights from both the Charlatans and Muse, who seriously rocked and we look forward to our visit to your shores in October Steve!

"Oh gawd, what time do you call this Turner, get this bl**dy bus out on the road"
Blakey Brock relives his days as Devon's very own Gestapo bus inspector as chronicled in the Museums HAWKFILM special from last year

The band complete with guest bassist Lemmy at the 1985 Anti Heroin gig at Crystal Palace, the "hilarious caption that accompanied the shot was -

"HAWKWIND AND LEMMY are joined by . . . Fish"
( Of Marillion)

This one might stump a few of you and it's link to Hawkwind is by admission tenuous to say the least. It shows actors Freddie Sherrard Brookes and Bernard Taylor in a production called -
JIMI HENDRIX - THE STAR THAT PLAYED WITH LAUGHING SAMS DICE.

And the connection, it was written by none other than Mr Bob Calvert and had a short run at a London theatre called the Covent Garden Plaza

Something that Dave Brock hasn't done in quite some while as far as I'm aware, sign a record deal that is. On this occasion he was putting pen to paper with the Flick-knife label which at the time run was run by the couple flanking Dave, namely Gina and Frenchy

"Help, I want me mum!" And who can blame the poor chap, ones to presume this lucky lad was some sort of competition winner with the Hawks presenting him with a Guitar, a Westone being my best guess, after the short but highly embarrassing ceremony the boy was allegedly heard to say
" F**king typical, I enter competitions to win a Guitar from Alex Lifeson of Rush, Angus Young of AC/DC and Dave Brock of Hawkwind, talk about pulling the bl**dy short straw"
At the museum we say " ungrateful little bas***d"

Quick note from the useum's good friend Dr Oz that apparently this was a competition run inKerrang magazine and the prize was one of Dave's guitars!

This was as good as I could get this one, and that took some serious doctoring. ( I think ) it depicts Huwey and Nik with another guest appearance from Lemmy in the centre, I'd guess it dates from the Earth Ritual tour of 1984 when Mr Kilmister put in an appearance at the bands Hammersmith shows.

Before you get too spooked by the mysterious inverted "K" that appears behind Dave. Ones to presume that the paper that Sounds was using that week in 1982 was particularly thin and what has shown through from the other side is an ad for the Kinks single come dancing, useful if you ever need to know the year it was released for a pub quiz or something similar, just cut the Museum in on any winnings!

Not much of questionable comic value to ad to these, pretty rare shots as far as I'm aware that first appeared in a music press ad for Westone Guitars.

Now I hope that Gavin Wilson doesn't object to me adding this to the page as this is the picture that adorns the front cover of the scrap book that I mentioned earlier and is in fact a Mr Wilson original and for me has to be one of the best pieces of Hawkwind artwork that I've seen.
