WITHOUT WHOM - THE UNSUNG HEROES OF A HAWKWIND TOUR

It's a big thank you to Neil and Marie from Chaos Illumination for helping me out on this one (hope you enjoyed the drink at Northampton guys, although I'm sure I owe you some more!), as they kindly agreed to take out a couple of those disposable cameras with them to record some of the shenanigans that goes on once all the hard work has been done and it's off, often overnight to the next venue on the tour.

I should also raise a glass to those featured in the following pictures, thanks for letting us have a little peak into "your world".

I should just mention that both Marie and Keith Barton have "vetted" these shots and were quite happy/ pleased/ relieved with the results, but the thing is that there is another camera out there that I'm waiting to get back and it has to be said that these self same people are keen to view those pictures as well, something tells me that there could be a few that don't make it to the site!

Smile for the camera Mr Dibs

Also "roughing it, Hawks drummer Richard Chadwick

Not sure who this is, I'll update when I know!

From all the reports I've read, one of the real stars of the latest tour is this man, sound tech "Fleece!"

Now roadies as I'm sure you are aware have a reputation for hard living, but it wasn't till I saw these snaps that I realised the one qualification you needed above all others to be able to join this select group of individuals - to have two drinks on the go at the same! Fleeces tea or coffee and a beer is an "interesting combination.

Also riding through the night was former hawks guitarist and currant support act Huw Lloyd Langton, you can't really see in this shot but let me assure of 2 things -
1 - that gesture he's making is, as far as I'm aware not aimed at the Museum
2 - Down by his other hand is a large bag of Matlessers
Oh, and by the way not sure of the young ladies name but I think she was doing the catering for the tour.

And this my friend is what you do with said Maltessers if you're a cheeky chappie like Huw - attempt to pour them into a poor crew members mouth, in this case "Big Chris" whilst he's trying to catch a few ZZzzzz's.

I hope for your sake Huwie, he wasn't setting up your gear the next day!

And anyway, why waste your Maltessers, beer is far more effective.

Drum Tech (for this tour anyway) Keith Barton, snaps before he's snapped, I think that's Huw's leg on the left of the shot.

I think we can assume with some confidence that the night was "wearing on" when this picture was taken, no idea what Fleece has on his head and no special effect were used by myself to get this "interesting angle", that's assuming the bus wasn't about to tip over!

And lastly (wore the "and finally gag out with a previous gallery!), the newest recruit to the Hawkwind unsung heroes brigade. Like any jobbing rock 'n' roll band security is of the utmost importance to the band and here we see Huw's guitar getting the "up close and personal" treatment.

Actually it's Dave and Kris's new dog Katie and very lovely she looks too!
